NB: effe afwachten, want "the information" is vaak onbetrouwbaar.

The Information: META has signed a multi-year deal worth billions to rent GOOGL's TPUs to train new AI models & has also discussed buying TPUs for its own data centers as soon as next year.
Google is also setting up a JV w/ large investment firm to lease TPU to other customers.

This could be Nvidia’s next big move, with the stock in search of a positive catalyst
A report says Nvidia is planning a new chip platform that seeks to address evolving customer needs as the AI era transitions more toward inference workloads

A historic earnings beat wasn’t enough to lift Nvidia’s stock. What about a brand new chip platform?

The Wall Street Journal reported late on Friday that the company is soon planning to debut an inference-oriented chip platform that brings in technology designs from Groq, the startup that Nvidia struck a $20 billion licensing deal with at the end of last year. Through that deal, Nvidia also brought Groq employees, like founder Jonathan Ross, on board.

Nvidia didn’t immediately respond to a MarketWatch request for comment.

The rumored new platform, which the WSJ said is due to be announced during Nvidia’s annual GTC developer event in March, could mark an acknowledgment of the changing world of artificial-intelligence chips, the report suggested. Nvidia is by far the dominant maker of graphics processing units, which have largely powered the AI revolution so far. But Alphabet and other Broadcom partners have been working on their own custom chips that are cheaper and potentially more targeted to AI’s new era.

See also: Why Nvidia’s stock fell despite a historic earnings beat

Specifically, customers are turning to AI chips more for inference, which is the process by which models reach conclusions based on information that’s new to them. The WSJ report noted that customers increasingly want less expensive and more efficient processors for these sorts of workloads.

Groq has been known for making language-processing units, or LPUs. “Unlike the GPU, the LPU is a deterministic, low-power processor,” wrote Cantor Fitzgerald analyst C.J. Muse after the companies struck their licensing and “acqui-hire” deal in December.

“LPU strengths? Extremely low-latency, energy-efficient single user token per second, one of the fastest in the market,” Muse wrote. But the chips make use of a kind of superfast memory that has limited capacity, meaning that lots of racks would be needed.

At the time, Muse thought that Groq’s newfound presence within Nvidia would “enable even greater share of the inference market, particularly for the next leg of the AI infrastructure buildout — real-time workloads like robotics and autonomy.”

Nvidia’s stock, meanwhile, has been in search of a positive catalyst. Shares are down 5% so far this year, with an upbeat earnings announcement from earlier in the week unable to sway investors. The PHLX Semiconductor index is up 14% over the course of 2026 to date. Chip-sector investors this year have been particularly enamored by makers of memory products and equipment for semiconductor manufacturing.

Analysts have said that GTC could end up helping Nvidia’s stock, as the company has perhaps what could be its most market-moving updates for the big event.

Morgan Stanley replaces Micron with Nvidia as top semis pick
    TheFly

    Mar 02, 2026, 12:02 PM

Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore moved Nvidia (NVDA) back to its top pick in semiconductors, replacing Micron (MU). For the last two quarters Nvidia shares have not moved while the business has continued to strengthen, the analyst tells investors in a research note. The firm attributes this to concerns around the durability of Nvidia’s current growth. Morgan Stanley sees these concerns turning to “2027 enthusiasm in the coming months.” The stock, trading at 18-times Nvidia’s 2027 estimated earnings, offers a “surprisingly good entry point,” Morgan Stanley contends. It keeps an Overweight rating on Nvidia with a $260 price target.

NVDA vs. MU vs. AMD – Top UBS Analyst Picks the Best AI Chip Stock
UBS top analyst Timothy Arcuri updated his views on leading U.S. chip makers Nvidia , Micron MU , and Advanced Micro Devices AMD . While he remains bullish about the long-term potential of all three companies, he adjusted price targets based on near-term outlooks. Arcuri reiterated his Buy ratings across the board with the following changes:

NVDA – Maintained price target of $245, implying 34.3% upside
MU – Raised price target from $450 to $475, implying 15.1% upside
AMD – Lowered price target from $330 to $310, suggesting 56% upside

Arcuri is a five-star analyst on TipRanks, ranking #5 out of 12,141 analysts tracked. He boasts a 76% success rate and an impressive average return per rating of 41.4%.

Arcuri met NVDA CFO Colette Kress on a bus tour and returned bullish on Nvidia’s networking growth and long-term margins. Kress noted that hyperscalers are planning 2027 compute buildouts amid strong demand, signaling a strong demand momentum over the short term.

He also stated that hyperscalers have strong balance sheets and cash flows, enabling large capex spending ahead of revenue and profits, similar to the cloud expansion of the past decade. Hyperscalers are also using financing leases, special purpose vehicles, and other options to fund the capex.

Nvidia is already the world’s top networking company and plans to exceed all other networking chip makers combined by this year-end. Gross margins are at 71% now, nearing the 75% max target suggested by the management. Arcuri maintained his calendar 2027 and 2028 earnings per share (EPS) estimates at approximately $12.50 and $15, respectively.
